Peter Powning is an artist from New Brunswick who uses clay, bronze and glass to create stunning, towering pieces.
For our new Cranbrooke Village development at Bathurst and Lawrence Peter is constructing a neighborhood art project. Community members were invited to bring personal and historical artifacts and have them gently molded to then be cast in bronze.
The pictures above are of Peter making plaster casts of nearly 300 neighborhood objects. These casts will have bronze poured into them and fit together like puzzle pieces. The puzzle pieces are fit together to form sides of a spire. Peter expects all the object bronzing to be done by the end of the month.
The finished artwork will be 2 towering pinnacles; one 10 feet tall and the other 20 feet tall.
If you brought an item for Peter’s artwork we want to hear from you! Tell us what object you brought and why its meaningful to you.
