The History of Shoppers World on Danforth Avenue

image
Our new Options condos at The Village by Main Station are in a neighbourhood rich with history. One example is Shoppers World Danforth, which is a five minute walk from the development, and is known as one of the first enclosed shopping malls in Canada. Before it was a mall, it was the main Ford Motor Company plant until 1953, building the Model A and the Model T automobiles.  It was converted into a shopping plaza in 1962 and the main building of the mall is still the original structure of the factory. Danforth Shoppers World led the way for the shopping experience we know today, which is an enclosed, heated and cooled building with multiple stores.
